My Approach

I have a simple approach to addressing and meeting your goals, Teamwork! You and I will come up with a plan together to ensure success by combining my medical expertise with your current capabilities, schedule, wants, and needs. I go to your home, gym, sports field, etc. and tailor treatment to you in the environment you want.

Shortcomings of typical therapy clinics

A major flaw encountered with many therapy clinics is the knowledge base and quality of treatment you receive. Many clinics will use assistants, aides, and techs to provide much of your care. With my approach you get the therapist and qualifications outlined in my bio under (Meet Your Therapist) for each session ensuring the highest quality of service based on knowledge, experience, and consistency.

Another problem with in-clinic therapy is home exercise compliance. In my opinion, one of the most important factors to successful treatment is an excellent home program that you are committed to. By coming to you, I ensure you have all the resources needed to complete a program with what is available to you. I then assess and progress this program as you improve.

During these uncertain times with COVID, gas prices, and inflation, an added benefit to this mobile therapy model is that you do not have to visit a busy office with dozens of people flowing in and out every hour. You also have no traffic to navigate and no expensive gas to burn. If your schedule is too compressed, I can also provide treatment at your workplace which may decrease loss of wages.

If you lack equipment that you and I find necessary for treatment, I bring these specific tools to you. Some examples are weights, bands, foam roller, and modalities for pain (electric stimulation machines, ultrasound machines, and hot/cold packs).

What to expect during treatment

On the first day:

  • A thorough review of all medical conditions, general health, previous injuries, and medications.
  • A high-quality evaluation of not only your injury or primary area of concern but of all areas that could affect treatment or be implicated in your condition.
  • A review of all findings and explanation of what these findings mean to you.
  • A discussion and agreement of the approach we will take together.
  • A customized written home program with demonstration to ensure proper form.

You may also receive or perform:

  • Manual therapy including massage, joint mobilizations, manual stretch, desensitization, neural mobilizations, myofascial mobilization, and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM).
  • Exercises, functional activities, ergonomic assessment, equipment modification, discussion on footwear and orthotics, vestibular and balance education and training, education of home exercise equipment and set-up, and much more.
  • For follow up sessions, a review of symptoms, home program progression or modification, explore any new issues, manual therapy as needed, review of nutrition and hydration, and possible sleep hygiene education.

Direct Access: How it works

California law allows for patients to seek out and perform physical therapy (PT) with no referral from a medical doctor. A patient may be treated for 12 visits, or up to 45 days from your first visit, whichever comes first. Most orthopedic issues can be addressed in this time but, if more visits are required a simple visit to your primary care provider (PCP) can be done and additional PT can be ordered. All treatment evaluations would also be sent to your doctor for transparency.

If you are being seen for health and wellness services such as sports training, power and strength, golf specific treatment, etc. there is no limit on direct access visits as these laws do not apply to wellness services.

Even with direct access, if there are medical issues that need more advanced care such as imaging, orthopedic MD, or general issues that should be addressed by your PCP, you will be immediately referred to your PCP for their assessment to ensure your health remains the highest priority.
